Telemarketing service is a service that is rendered by all call centers. Call centers also make all the efforts in hiring good candidates for telemarketers and spend a lot on their training. This should make you understand how important the telemarketing department is in a call center. This service makes use of the telephone for conversing with the customers and also urging them to buy a product or service. Making sales over phone is still a prevalent method that is used for increasing the sales in call centers.

Making pre-calling plans

Before you make the call, you should have an objective in mind. Ask yourself what you want the receiver of the call to do after you make the call and advance accordingly. Keeping the objective in mind, you must prepare the questions you want to ask the customer. You must also have secondary objectives for every telemarketing service call that you make. You should drive all your efforts towards achieving your objectives or goals with every call that you make.

Reaching the decision maker

Make sure you treat the screener as you would treat yours customer, because the screener decides whether you will get to speak to the customer or not. If it is possible try and gain information on the prospect you are about to call from other sources; the busy decision makers do not want to waste their time answering the basic qualifying questions.

Before making a cold call, think of a good excuse to call the decision maker. You should also be able to sell this reason to the screener. In case you have to leave a voice message, ensure that you put in a word or two about the benefits to just get the prospect curious, but do not talk about the product or service directly in telemarketing.

Have effective questions

Before you start questioning the receiver of the call, make sure that you have a good opening sentence to begin with. Remember if you are able to grab the interest of the prospect in the first 10 seconds of the call, he/she might be interested to answer your questions.

Make questions to determine that the products and services actually are beneficial to the prospect. Ask questions one at a time and give the prospect time to answer that. Never ask obvious questions and questions that will get you nowhere. Throw questions at the prospects confidently; for this it is necessary to prepare your questions well ahead. Never forget to follow up the answers of the prospects with more questions.

Closing

The sales process should end in closing the sale, only then is the procedure deemed successful. You must make efforts to gaining commitments on every contact so that the process can move forward. In case you are going to schedule a follow up call, you must get a commitment of some kind. The prospect must have something to call you back, otherwise they will not be interested in calling back.

Telemarketing the right way can do wonders, so make sure that the representatives receive the highest quality training possible.
